Just the other day, with my family, I had the opportunity to hear a very interesting woman speak. She had the entire auditorium engaged. Throughout her speech, she discussed the shifting of an imaginary bar. “A bar that is always shifting.” I spent much time trying to define and visualize the shifting bar in my life. I began to equate the shifting bar to the contradictions in our lives and I began to reflect on the fact that the secret to life is diminishing those contradictions. I thought about EDFCS and the job we do collectively to educate your children, our learners. Then I thought about the imaginary shifting bar. Our goal at EDFCS is to keep the bar consistent so everyone achieves. This is why we wear a uniform to school every day. This is how we are able to keep our population young, innocent, free from other people’s values. You see that shifting bar to me represents less tolerance of individual differences, bullying, fights before, during and after school, guns, violence, shootings, and miseducation. These things are diminished at EDFCS and I take pride in creating an environment where the shifting bar doesn’t exist or exist very little however are addressed. So parents when your child says I want to go to a bigger school or I want to wear regular clothes listen very carefully to what your child is asking and ask yourself in this world of shifting bars where do you want your child to be? How do you want your child to be educated? And finally what do you want your child to become? We believe in educating the whole child based on prior knowledge. So forth and so on… this is just an example of what this will be. Keep in mind you want to sell your audience.
